Good Doctors...

Missouri Doctors Mutual has been building a membership of good doctors who demonstrate safe medical practices. Our company has set up very stringent underwriting standards. A recent internal audit (1/1/2008) appears to demonstrate that our underwriting practices are sound and our objective is being met.

MoDocs members represent over 7,747 years of medical practice. Many of our doctors (49%) have never had a claim filed against them. The majority of our doctors who had to defend their reputation and medical practices were successful.

The strength of a mutual association, such as MoDocs, lies in its membership. The management of MoDocs has decided to use a careful screening approach to membership rather than an emphasis on market share. A primary focus on market share could easily cause the company to incur unreasonable risk and liability.
We at MoDocs believe that it is prudent to be selective in both the choice of the doctors, to whom we offer membership, as well as their specialties. MoDocs offers membership on a selective basis resulting in a pool with a high percentage of low risk doctors.

Together with selecting good doctors, MoDocs is selective in its speciality mix limiting the number of high risk good doctors.
